Happy Birthday!
After the first five artists I think I could've predicted the next seventeen with about a 90% success rate :)
I expected to see Early November or Jimmy Eat World in that list though!!
Love that Alkaline Trio track; underrated as you say!
What did you get for your birthday...?
I'm acutally not a huge Early November fan. Their acoustic album is about all I listen to. I almost put Jimmy Eat World on there though. Either "23" or A Sunday." Those guys have never let me down.
On Alk3: I think it's criminal how people scream for Cop or Private Eye and not Jaked On Green Beers. It's SO bitter and angry!
My birthday was pretty chill. I actually got Season 3 of Heroes, so I think I'll be rewatching that again soon.
Thanks for the comment!
I don't think that I really started to appreciate Oh! Darling until "Across the Universe" came out on DVD
I'm glad you brought that up Trevor. I was late in appreciating it too. I think it's because Abbey Road has some juggernaut songs on it.
However, I hate people that dismiss the post-Rubber Soul output as merely drug induced garbage. "Oh! Darling" is a prime example that The Beatles never stopped dabbling in old style Rock & Roll.
You know my thoughts on Across The Universe. :P
Ah, the acoustic EP... ya, it's great! I'm actually a bit behind on my 'emo' albums -- I think I have up until about 2004, but nothing since then (except the latest Jimmy Eat World and The Ataris).
I didn't think Heroes S3 was great :( Here's hoping that S4 finally puts the show back on track... but I fear it is never going to be as good as S1!
I was never an Ataris fan, they're a third-rate NFG. Jimmy Eat World have never put out a bad album IMO. "Futures" is easily one of my favorite albums.
As for Heroes, I hope the show settles down a bit. I liked Season 3 more than 2....but 1 is definitely the gold standard. Still, I like where it's going, and I'm excited for Sept. :D
I guess I'll have to look up some NFG!
They're not as solid as other bands, but I love So Long Astoria and Blue Skies, Broken Hearts (one of their earliest). It's punky, but not over the top.
S3... builds up towards the end. It's definitely quite dramatic. But it's almost drama for the sake of drama. Doesn't feel all that DEEP any more.
Only one week until the big shows start appearing!
